Saitama Christmas-kai

Today was the last class of 2024 here at Aikido Meiryukan Saitama. 

Following the 2 hours of demonstration training we then went over to the nearby Karaoke for a little Christmas party. Some visitors from the Kasukabe, Noda and Fukiage clubs joined us as well.

It has been a good year at the Saitama club. Alot of new faces, some returning OB, and regular visitors from other clubs.

Let`s keep this energy and atmosphere going in 2025!

Winter tests in Saitama

Winter testing time has begun at Meiryukan.

On Sunday December the 8th, five students from the Aikido Meiryukan Saitama club tested for ranks from kindergarten middle kyu, elementary 10 ～ 9kyu, and adult 10th kyu.
 

For 3 out of the 5 it was their first grading. Although probably nervous, they sure didn`t show it. Great energy and effort!

More than just repeating a few forms or techniques... testing is about attitude, focus and spirit. You need to show it!

Results will be up on th Meiryukan homepage in about a week.

Decemeber the 22nd will be the last class of the year for the Saitama club. Following the training we will be holding our annual end of the year party.

Also if you haven`t handed in your kagami biraki application, please do so by this weekend.

町内会の運動会

10月27日(日)さいたま市の小学校で行われた町内会の運動会にて体験会を行わせていただきました。

テーマ「護身術(逃げるが勝ち)」ということで、幼稚園生、小学生、女性を対象にした体験会です。

幼稚園生、小学生向けには片手を掴まれた時の離脱法をまず体験していただき、その後声を出しながら走って逃げるところまで行いました。

子供たちは真剣に話をきいてました

ただ、このシチュエーションにならないよう子供たちが安全に過ごせる世の中が一番です。

不審者に近づかない！知らない人についていかない！

そして地域などで協力して子供を守っていきましょう。

秋の審査合格者おめでとうございます！

Congratulations to all who passed the Fall tests. Results are up on the Meiryukan HP. You can get the password from your instructor or dojo representative.

Note: 10/27 there will be no Aikido Meiryukan Saitama classes. Instead we will be holding a self defence trial lesson as part of the Matsumoto Shuki sports festival. 

 

10/11(金）さいたま同好会

On Friday evening at Saitama we worked on 片手持ち側面入り身投げ（二）、正面打ち正面入り身投げ（二）立、座

The entering movement in both of these #2 techniques is really difficult. Be careful not to have your feet too wide after the pivot. Don`t push against your partner, think of the flow and enter from the side.

 

Friday and Sunday at Meiryukan Saitama

Friday evening at Meiryukan Saitama we practiced 両手持ち天地投げ(一)(ニ）立、座aswell as 両手持ち一ヶ条抑え(ニ) - keeping the connection on both hands throughout the technique.

On Sunday we worked on 正面打ち肘締め(ニ）立、座 - not trying to catch the elbow too early. Also worked on the correct way to take uke. Finished with a more flowing variation from hijishime to kotegaeshi.

 

9/1さいたま同好会

On Sunday morning at Meiryukan Saitama the student/family class continued from last week`s tai no henko ichi then into the related technique, katate mochi sokumen iriminage ichi. Points were about the direction of feet and body angles.

Highschool blackbelt Yuna led the second half of the class, assisted by her younger brother Soichiro. Great job guys!

In today`s morning Saitama class we went through some basics, then continued from last week`s lesson and moved into pivoting practice and shomen uchi ikkajo osae ni. This class was assisted by Yuna and Yukari. Way to look after your juniors, great job!

Saitama club adult tests 7/7

On Sunday, July the 7th two people tested during the Aikido Meiryukan Saitama adult class.

The 10th kyu test was solid. We have been working hard on the 6 basic movements for over 4 months. Great focus, especially considering this heat.

The 4th kyu test was good as well. Most of the techniques were learnt years ago in the kids class, so no problem there. The kihon dosa with a partner was a first, but both the shite and uke roles were done well. 
 

Still a few more weeks of testing to go

New faces and visitors at Sunday`s Aikido Meiryukan Saitama club. 

Although our big joint test day is finished, we still have the various club summer tests throughout July. Saitama is the first on the list, with their grading on Sunday, July 7th.

The Urayasu 3rd kyu and above tests will be held on Saturday, the 20th and Sunday July the 21st. Spectators welcome!
 

Sunday Saitama

Sunday, June 2nd Aikido Meiryukan Saitama

In the student/family class we worked on both one wrist and both wrist grasp shihonage 1 & 2, then shomen uchi kotegaeshi 2

We finished up with some core training.

In the adult class we started off with ryote mochi kokyu-ho ichi, then into ryote mochi tenchinage ichi, broke into groups for ikkajonage, kokyunage and kotegaeshi. Finished with some test training.

Meiryukan Saitama

Since last month Aikido Meiryukan Saitama has classes on not only Sunday mornings, but Friday evenings as well. 

For the time being, the Friday evening classes will be held once a month from 7:15pm to 8:15pm. A perfect time to let off some stress from the long work week and get refreshed for the weekend. Visitors always welcome!

We had visitors from both the Noda and Fukiage clubs. Great atmosphere, and great energy!
 

New Friday evening class 新クラス

昨日4/19(金)よりさいたま市立上大久保中学校でさいたま同好会の新しいクラスが始まりました！現在のところ19：15～20：15で月1回となりますが今後状況によって増える可能性もあります。次回は5/17(金)の予定ですので、是非ご参加ください。

Starting yesterday, a new Friday night class at the Kamiokubo junior-high in Saitama city. For the time being we are going to hold this class once a month, then go from there if interest keeps. The class is from 19:15 to 20:15. Visitors welcome! Next class is scheduled for Friday, May 17th. See you then.
